Professional golfer Tiger Woods is facing criminal charges after a rollover car crash in Florida early Monday, police announced. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Woods crashed his 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV around 2:00 a.m. on May 29, 2021, in the Hamlet neighborhood of Jupiter, Florida, a Palm Beach County town.
Florida Highway Patrol officers arrived at the scene and found Woods, 45 at the time, suffering from injuries. The golfer was later taken to a nearby hospital and treated for several injuries, including a laceration to his upper lip and two broken bones in his right leg. Woods had been undergoing a recent spinal fusion surgery in April 2021.
Tiger Woods was reportedly released from the hospital several days after the incident, but it wasn’t until weeks later on July 5, 2021, that he was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after a blood test was conducted. Woods pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge on August 26, 2021.
