A dramatic incident unfolded on the evening of March 26, 2024, at India’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi when an IndiGo Airlines flight reported an engine failure. The aircraft, operating as flight 6E 1354 from Delhi to Lucknow, issued a distress signal after experiencing problems with one of its engines.
According to eyewitnesses, authorities immediately launched an emergency response protocol following the aircraft’s distress call. The pilot declared a full emergency and initiated a controlled descent, landing safely on the runway. Passengers were quickly evacuated from the plane using emergency slides.
The plane, a narrow-body Airbus A320-200, had taken off from Delhi at 3:50 PM local time. An hour into the flight, the crew detected a malfunction with one of the engines, prompting them to alert air traffic control.
