In an interview with the BBC, Tom Fletcher, the UN’s Humanitarian Affairs Lead, emphasized the devastating consequences of the ongoing conflict on civilians in the region. He stressed that the crisis is having a profound and far-reaching impact, extending beyond the immediate area of conflict and posing significant threats to global stability.
Fletcher expressed deep concern over the potential for “secondary impacts” to spread to other parts of the world, fueling extremism and polarization.
