Oil storage facilities at Salalah Port were engulfed in flames after suspected drone strikes triggered large explosions, raising fresh concerns over security in the region’s critical energy infrastructure. Dramatic footage circulating online showed towering plumes of smoke and fire rising from the port area after the attack.
The port, located in the southern city of Salalah in Oman, is a key maritime hub in the Arabian Sea and plays an important role in regional oil trade and shipping routes.
Massive Fire Breaks Out at Oil Facilities
According to reports and videos released by Al Jazeera, multiple oil tanks at the port caught fire after being hit by drones. The strikes reportedly occurred late at night, and the resulting blasts could be seen from miles away.
Witnesses described hearing several loud explosions before flames quickly spread across sections of the storage facility. Emergency responders and firefighting teams rushed to the scene to contain the blaze.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement detailing the scale of the damage or confirming whether there were casualties.
