A fresh spell of snowfall has blanketed the higher reaches of Kashmir, with reports indicating significant snowfall in several areas, including the Gulmarg resort. Meanwhile, the plains of the valley are experiencing light to moderate rains, with temperatures dipping in the aftermath.
According to the Meteorological Department, the snowfall began in the early hours of the day, bringing relief to the region after a prolonged dry spell. Heavy snowfall was reported in the higher reaches, with the famous ski resort of Gulmarg receiving over 10 inches of snow. Authorities have issued advisory warnings to tourists and locals to exercise caution while traveling due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
The snowfall has brought a welcome respite to the region, with temperatures expected to remain low for the next few days. The Meteorological Department has forecast continued light snowfall in the higher reaches over the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the plains are expected to experience moderate to heavy rains, with the possibility of thundershowers.
